Sailing on Lake Tinaroo

Stunning Lakes

There are three stunning lakes within thirty minutes of Yungabuarra. Swim in a beautiful volcanic crater lake at Lake Eacham (above and left) or go for a 3km walk around its perimeter where you may spot a musky rat-kangaroo. Surrounded by World-Heritage Rainforest, this lake is a great bird watching area. Look into the weeping fig canopy at the lake side car park to view fig parrots. Listen for the distinctive calls of the catbird and tooth-billed bowerbird. Bring a picnic or use the free BBQs. Toilet facilities available.  – 10 minute drive to the east of Yungaburra

Drive east from Yungaburra to Lake Barrine, Crater Lakes National Park. Since the 1920s, visitors have experienced the pleasures of the Tea House Devonshire tea and a lake cruise. You can go for a 5km walk around the lake through towering rainforest trees. Take a cruise on the lake and spot sunbathing pythons, duck, eels, and turtles. Picnic and toilet facilities available. Bring your camera and binoculars for bird watching.  – 15 minute drive from Yungaburra

Lake Barrine Teahouse

What a fisherman’s paradise. Bring your boat and fishing gear to Lake Tinaroo to catch a whopper – the iconic Barramundi.

This is also a great spot to water ski, picnic and play family sports such as soccer on the grassy shores of the lake.  – 10 minute drive from Yungaburra

Vision Falls

A beautiful little trail through the rainforest near Lake Eacham in the Tablelands Region of Far North Queensland. The trail begins from Lake Eacham Road and leads you out to Vision Falls and back again.  You can also come in via Wright’s Creek Road.

The falls are also known as Shannon Falls and you can walk along the creek a little once you get there.
